Spiaggia di Jesolo
Physical
A very long flat Adriatic beach with fine sand. Stabilimenti cover almost the entire shore for 15 kilometres. High hotels line the seafront. The density of infrastructure is comparable to Rimini.
Social
Similar to Rimini but with a higher proportion of Central European tourists — Germans, Austrians, and Czechs in particular. Young adults and families. In summer the beach operates at very high density. The nightlife and entertainment infrastructure is well developed.
Context
Jesolo developed as a beach resort primarily after World War II, catering to Central European tourists arriving by car on the newly built motorways. Its growth was rapid and almost entirely commercial. The original fishing village of Jesolo is separate from the beach resort.
Environment
Coastal erosion documented along this stretch of the Adriatic; the comune has undertaken beach nourishment and anti-erosion works.
