A flat Adriatic beach with golden sand, part of the long coastal strip near Comacchio in the Po Delta. The shoreline is wide and straight, bordered by a dense pinewood behind the stabilimenti. The landscape is very flat in all directions.
Social
Historically a destination for families from Ferrara and the Po Valley. The same families return year after year, often booking the same umbrella position. The beach has a strong atmosphere of seasonal routine and memory.
Context
Lido degli Estensi was developed as a planned resort in the early 20th century, with a geometric street grid and a pinewood designed as part of the project. It is part of the UNESCO Po Delta landscape. Coastal erosion is a serious long-term problem.
