Spiaggia San Vincenzo
Physical
The main beach of San Vincenzo on the Etruscan Coast. A long, flat sandy shore with stabilimenti for most of its length. The seafront road and a small commercial area are immediately behind.
Social
A typical mid-range Tuscan beach resort. Families, couples, and groups of friends from the surrounding region and from further afield. San Vincenzo is busy in summer but does not reach the density of the Adriatic.
Context
San Vincenzo developed as a resort in the 20th century alongside the industrial expansion at nearby Piombino (steel) and Livorno (chemicals). The pineta (pine forest) was planted in the 19th century. The town balances tourism with its identity as a real urban centre.
Environment
Sandy shore modified by stabilimenti along most of its length, backed by a 19th-century planted pine forest.
