Spiaggia Capriccioli
Physical
A granite and vegetation beach near Arzachena in the Costa Smeralda area. The rocks are pink-grey granite, the water is green and very clear, and the landscape combines Posidonia seagrass meadows with macchia scrub. Access is on foot only.
Social
A more selective crowd than Porto Cervo — visitors are willing to walk to get there, which limits the numbers and creates a slightly more nature-focused atmosphere. Not cheap, but not exclusively for the ultra-wealthy.
Context
The Costa Smeralda was developed from 1962 onward by a consortium led by the Aga Khan. Capriccioli sits within this zone but retains more of its natural character than the most developed parts of the coast. The Posidonia meadows are a protected marine habitat.
Environment
Protected Posidonia seagrass meadows offshore.
