Physical

A small bay on the southwestern coast of the island of Elba, with pale sandy beach, clear water, and surrounded by pine trees and Mediterranean scrub. The scale is intimate and the setting well protected.

Social

A popular destination for Elba visitors seeking a natural and sheltered beach. Less known than some other Elba beaches. The atmosphere is calm and middle-range — not the most secluded, not the most crowded.

Context

Elba's southwestern coast is less developed than the northern coast near Portoferraio. Fetovaia has been accessible by road since the 20th century but remains relatively low-key. The pine forest around the bay was planted in part to stabilise the dunes.
