Spiaggia di Termoli
Physical
A sandy beach below the historic walled town of Termoli, the only city on Molise's very short stretch of Adriatic coast. The beach is flat and the old town on its promontory is visible above. A small harbour with fishing boats sits nearby.
Social
Mainly local residents and regional visitors from Molise and Abruzzo. Termoli is largely off the main Italian tourist circuit. The beach is used in an uncomplicated way — for swimming and relaxing without the performance character of larger resorts.
Context
Termoli is the only coastal city in Molise, a region largely overlooked by tourism. The old town has a Norman castle and a Romanesque cathedral. The beach developed alongside the fishing economy and is still shaped by it.
Environment
Adriatic shoreline on a Molise coastal stretch affected by documented coastal erosion.
